Tour
Your Local Fire Station!

Tours are available of
your local fire station upon request. Station tours last
approximately 20 minutes and include viewing the fire engine
and fire fighting equipment, as well as talking to fire
fighters about their jobs.
Guests are welcome to visit. A visit by your group can be
arranged at our fire station.
Activities are planned based on the age and skill level of
the audience. Education is a big component of a fire station
visit. We view guests in the building as another opportunity
to teach injury prevention.
Fire station visits must be scheduled a minimum of 14 days
in advance; 30-45 days advanced scheduling is suggested.
Possible activities for a group of preschool children
includes learning a fire safety and the ABCs of fire safety.
Children also will learn about the fire truck and it's
equipment.
Children can practice Exit Drills In The Home. We will
instruct the group how they roll out of "bed" and crawl
under the "smoke." We also teach the group what to do
before they open a door, how to determine if the door is too
hot and when they need to make a decision to take the
another way out and crawl out the window.
Tour Criteria
Tours should be
scheduled at least 14 days in advance.
Minimum
age for tour participants is 5 years. Group size must be 25
or fewer total participants (including children and
chaperones). There must be 1 adult chaperone for every 5
children.
Fire stations remain "in-service" during tours. Fire
companies may need to respond to emergencies at any time. If
they do, it will be necessary for the tour to end and your
group to exit the station. Please keep this in mind when
visiting.
Fire fighters have serious work to do. Birthday party groups
meeting the age requirement are welcome to tour a fire
station but may not hold party festivities at the station.
No cake and ice cream please.
